Samsung Introduces the Most Powerful Foldable Phone in the World So Far

The Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4 and the Galaxy Watch 5 are Samsung's newest and best foldable smartphones, which were just unveiled at the company's most recent Galaxy Unpacked event.

The technology in the Galaxy Z Fold 4 makes it the most potent folding phone currently available, but it only represents a little improvement over the model from a year ago.

First of all, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 has a new hinge that reduces the display's crease from its previous size and reduced bezels all around the screen. 7.6-inch, 120Hz AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1768 x 2208 pixels serves as the internal display. A selfie camera is located under the screen but is less noticeable than in the past because to greater density pixels above it.

This time, there is more display surface thanks to lower bezels and a more manageable 23:9 aspect ratio. The outside display is a 6.2-inch AMOLED panel with a refresh rate of 120Hz and an 832 x 2268-pixel resolution. Both displays have 1200 nits of maximum brightness, HDR10+, Stylus support, Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection, and Gorilla Glass Victus+. Water resistance of IPX8 is also available.

Unfortunately, the Fold 4 doesn't feature a separate storage area for the S-Pen, which is same as before. Instead, you may put it into the case that Samsung is providing for free.

Internals and Storage

One of the more noticeable improvements from last year is the SoC of the phone. It is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC this year, an upgraded model of the SD8G1 processor. There isn't a memory card port, and the storage is limited to 1TB with up to 12GB of RAM.

The phone will start up with Android 12 and One UI 4.2 on top. A "taskbar" has been added to the inner display's user interface by Samsung, making it more similar to Windows or the Mac. Along with a recent applications button, it offers your favorite apps and app combinations (which may run up to three apps simultaneously).

Cameras

Compared to previous year, the main camera configuration has also been improved. Instead of a 12MP camera, users now get a 50MP primary sensor (from the S22 series), which is coupled with a 10MP telephoto lens that supports 3x optical zoom and 30s spatial zoom, as well as a 12MP ultrawide camera. Despite the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1's ability to shoot 8K footage as well, you are still only able to record in 4K at 60 frames per second.

The under-display selfie camera, as previously reported, is much less noticeable than before, however, it only has a 4MP lens. Instead, a 10MP camera is located on the outside screen.

Battery and Pricing

Battery specifications are unchanged. The 4,400 mAh battery is still the same and supports 25W cable charging, 11W wireless charging, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging so that you may charge your accessories while the phone is being charged.

The colours Beige, Phantom Black, and Gray Green will be offered for the Galaxy Z Fold 4. The 12GB RAM/256GB storage model will cost $1,800 as a starting price.
